Free download: Sorting Placemats
Small dinosaurs, big fun!
Sometimes the smallest materials are the most beloved. This is certainly true for mini dino erasers. Children can endlessly sort, count, collect, and of course... fiddle with them.
To get even more out of these cheerful mini dino erasers, I've created a set of free sorting placemats. With these, children playfully practice color recognition, counting, and logical sorting.
Why mini dino erasers are so special
Mini dino erasers are fantastic manipulation material for fine motor skills.
Because the erasers are small, children naturally pick them up with a pincer grasp. This grasp is particularly important for developing a good pencil grip while writing. At the same time, children playfully practice their finger strength and force regulation, as the soft erasers require just enough pressure.
Mini erasers are also very special sensorially. They feel:
- soft and light
- warm in the hand
- supple and a little cuddly
- very different from plastic counting materials or tokens
It's precisely this pleasant tactile experience that makes many children love to keep playing with them.
Free sorting placemats
With the free download, you'll find various placemats that children can use to playfully practice.
- sorting by color
- counting and placing the correct number
- combining colors and quantities
- completing tasks independently or together
The placemats are suitable for home, in the classroom, at daycare, or during therapy.
What skills do children practice?
Many important skills are unconsciously stimulated during play.
- fine motor skills
- pincer grasp
- hand-eye coordination
- finger force regulation
- color recognition
- counting and quantities
- concentration
- work posture
- executive functions, such as sustained attention, planning, and self-control

Play suggestion
Make the game extra challenging by having children place the mini dino erasers in the correct spot with a (children's) tweezer. This not only further practices the pincer grasp, but also hand-eye coordination and concentration.
Download them for free!
Print out the sorting placemats, get out the mini dino erasers, and let the discovery begin. A handful of small dinosaurs thus transforms into an educational game where children playfully work on their fine motor skills, math skills, and sensory development.
Have fun playing!
