Gifts for the holidays

With the holidays in sight, the search for fun gifts also begins. There is so much for sale. One of my criteria is always that it should remain fun even after playing for the umpteenth time . In this blog I want to inspire you with a list of gifts that they would be very happy with at home (5.5 and 2.5 years).

Apple Twist from smart game

The game Apple Twist is a fun game that our oldest can already play quite well independently. The game seems to have a simple assignment 'put the worms in the right place', but is quite challenging. Many executive functions are addressed such as spatial insight, planning and organization; where do I start and perseverance. Because there is a booklet with assignments that vary in difficulty, the game remains fun. My husband and I also regularly pick up the game ourselves to challenge ourselves.

Pirate tactile steering wheel

The pirate touch wheel was an immediate favorite with my youngest. He quickly realized that you can move the colored balls back and forth and sort them by color. My oldest came up with all kinds of patterns with the colored balls. Later it became a steering wheel for a boat and a while later the wheel to open the safe. Very nice for small toddler hands.

Hopscotch rings

At home, I am often asked to set up a course. Preferably with materials from my practice. The hopscotch game is a fun addition to such a movement course. Because you can connect the rings in all kinds of shapes, you can make it as easy or difficult as you want. Ideal for practicing consultation and cooperation when building the hopscotch game.

Make 'n' break

Our oldest loves games. He has already mastered the concept of taking turns and playing by the rules. Make 'n break is challenging and requires your motor skills and concentration. As parents, we like to play along with this fun game. It does make you super fanatic, so you have been warned.

Kinetic sand

Finally, Kinetic Sand is of course a must on the gift list. When I want a bit of peace and quiet, I put the boys each at their own tub with Kinetic Sand, add some bowls and spoons or a nice sand stamp and I have no problem with it. You can easily sweep it together, it doesn't stick to your hands and it doesn't have the nasty, abrasive effect between your fingers that children who are a bit more sensitive can sometimes suffer from.
