New color-changing Tangles: sometimes you just have to let them surprise you

Uhhh... new Tangles Pebbles. Just those words make me a little excited.
When an email like this comes in from my supplier, I'm almost always on it right away. It's often about a pre-order or reservation, and sometimes I genuinely wonder if I'm really the first to respond. But honestly? I never have to question it. The email arrives, and I respond positively. Right away.

This time too. New Tangle Pebbles! And not only were they available for pre-order, they were also available immediately. I had them delivered two days later. In the meantime, I'd done a quick research: these Tangles change color with temperature changes. Fun, interesting, sensory—that was promising.
I had already prepared the product texts and images so they could be uploaded to the webshop as soon as the shipment arrived. I do that often. But this time, things turned out a little differently than expected.

The colors... wow. Truly beautiful. Every single one.
Only: they looked different than the photos I'd received from my supplier. And nothing really happened when I held them in my hands. No color change. No magic. Nothing.

It's winter. Real winter. A kind of snowy winter.
So, off we go—Tangle into the snow. But even there: little difference. Maybe a tad darker… maybe. Suddenly, though, it was wonderfully cold. I actually found that surprisingly pleasant. Cooling, soothing. I hadn't even considered that idea yet.

And then I thought, wait a minute.

The Tangle went on the heater and I walked away.
And lo and behold… it happened. A complete color change. A real " oh!" moment. Surprising, yet it was exactly what had been predicted.

Off the heater, back in my hands — and what an experience.
A warm tangle feels pleasant anyway, but now something extra happened: very slowly, gradually, the color darkened again. Not suddenly, but subtly. With all sorts of beautiful nuances in between. Truly beautiful to see.

Then everything fell into place.

The supplier's photos showed Tangles that were half warm and half at (almost) room temperature. And there's no sharp transition between warm and cool, but a whole world of shades. That's precisely what makes the effect so special—and also a bit confusing if you don't know what's going on.

So: back to the webshop texts.
I've adjusted, clarified, and added to them. Hopefully, it's now clearly visible and legible what these color-changing Tangles do, when they do it, and why you sometimes need to wait a little to see the effect.

And honestly? That discovery, trying, feeling, and being surprised—that's perhaps exactly what these Tangles represent.
Not everything has to be immediately clear. Sometimes things can reveal themselves slowly. Just like the color in your hands.

But… now there was something else.

My warehouse is often a bit dark. Practical, but not ideal when you need to recognize subtle color differences. And that's precisely what became a challenge. With the regular Tangles, I already have this with gem purple and gem blue , for example—they sometimes look suspiciously similar in dim light. So you can probably guess what's coming: with these color-changing Tangle Pebbles, things got really interesting.

My first plan was simple: write names on the boxes.
But yeah… which is which?

Luckily, blue is clear. There was no doubt about that.
But then: two kinds of pink. Two kinds of greenish. Slightly different undertones, slightly different nuances. The longer I looked, the less certain I became.

There was no other option.

One of each color came out of the package. Add the pan. Add the tangles. And pour hot water over it.
Only then did the differences truly emerge. Even then, I had to look closely, compare, and hold them side by side again: okay… this one changes so much… and this one slightly differently.

Honestly? It felt absolutely ridiculous that it was so close.

And yet I still didn't quite trust it. So I put everything neatly back in the boxes, let it cool—and only when the tangles had cooled again did I dare to finally label all the boxes.
Only then was I reassured.

What a Tangle adventure with the Pebbles.

But how beautiful they are.
They spin wonderfully smoothly. The colors are calm, mature, and layered—no flashy hues, but rather refined. And that added sensory element? That's what makes them truly special.

Place in the refrigerator for a cooling effect.
Or just on the heater for warmth and a visible color change.
This play of temperature adds an extra dimension to Tangle playing — tactile, visible and surprisingly soothing.

These are not Tangles that you can “quickly” understand.
These are Tangles for you to discover. And each time, they reveal something new.

And maybe that is precisely their charm.
