Stir for the roller board as a gross motor skills trainer

Enjoy the imagination of children

For a while now, this great red stick with blue balls on the ends has been in the children's practice Bij Kee. Added to the collection of materials, without telling what it is. Great when you see what possibilities there are with this stick!

Drumming, majorette, balance stick, tennis stick...

The first child of course started drumming on the physioball, hey that makes a nice sound! The next one used it as a majorette stick, another as a balance stick when walking on the beam, as a stick to keep balloons up (with two hands) and as a tennis stick. We used it vertically as a stick catching game and as a signpost in a course. Because the stick is big, you stimulate the gross motor skills with all these applications.

Stick in combination with roller board

Only after a few weeks did someone come up with the idea to combine the stick with the roller board, and to move themselves forward in this way. Great to see that this possibility was discovered by a child himself. By using this stick as a rudder on the roller board, balance is trained and that is hard work for your whole body, that is gross motor skills. This rudder can be used sitting and lying down, whereby you have to push off alternately. This means that your push off has to be equally hard on both sides, otherwise you will of course go crooked.

An asset due to its multifunctional possibilities

I find this rudder an asset because it can be used multifunctionally in my children's practice. With possibly a few pieces of colored tape on the stick you can also challenge the children to hold it in a different place when you perform activities with it.
The foam rubber balls on the ends also make it a safe stick, which I can and want to use with pleasure with every age group. It stimulates the imagination and can be used for many exercises. Highly recommended!
